From the romantic cuisine of Italy, to Creole flavors from our neighbors to the east, we take you on a tour-of-culinary-romance, to find the best restaurant to fall in love with, in your neck of the woods.

1) Radio Milano, Houston

Modern Italian food with classically rich, authentic flavors, this restaurant, located in City Center, is a dimly lit escapade away from the lights and bustle of Downtown Houston. The seating arrangements give way to privacy with its glass walls and deep cozy benches and high on the walls around you, site specific artwork gives it that contemporary whimsical vibe.

From their house made burrata, to the creative mains like the black truffle and wild mushroom risotto, or gnocchi with pork belly and scallops, the dishes are loaded with creative seduction and surprising flavor combinations. Don’t leave without trying dessert! Executive chef Jose Hernandez started out as a pastry chef. Enough said.

2) Saint-Emilion, Fort Worth

Quiet, adorably cozy, and situated in a small house loaded with ambiance, Saint-Emilion is the perfect place to treat your sweetie to a romantic French culinary experience, without leaving Texas. Many agree, that it’s the most romantic restaurant in the whole DFW area.

With an old world wine menu and delicacies like escargot, caviar and honeyed duck, this is a perfect place to get “lost together” in a world of French Romanticism with your one true amor. Given the small size of the dining room, reservations are recommended. If you aren’t able to get in on Valentine’s Day, make plans for another weeknight, as they have wonderful three course set menus at an affordable price.

3) Brennan’s of Houston, Houston

Step into New Orleans romance with one of the most authentic Creole restaurants Space City has to offer. Brennan’s is a true mainstay in the heart of many Houstonians, and has been on the culinary map in the city for more than 40 years.

An extension of the original from NOLA itself, lovers unite over a bowl of their famous Turtle Soup or Blue Crab Ravigote, and then journey onto mains such as their bourbon lacquered Hill Country quail, or the Black Hill Ranch lamb osso bucco. The fireplace should be roaring at this time of year, so sit down, cozy up, and expect great service at one of Houston’s favorites.

4) Vespaio, Austin

Here in the capitol city, there’s no dinner more romantic than an evening spent at Vespaio. Located on South Congress in an unassuming brick building, this little Italian restaurant is lined from top to bottom with walls of carefully chosen wine, and the ingredients on the menu are made with love and care from scratch in their kitchen.  It is cozy and authentic, which makes it an ideal place to make a memory with your sweetheart.

Beautiful seafood and homemade pastas paired with small producer wines, leave lovers intoxicated, and don’t forget to finish the night sweetly with a slice of chocolate hazelnut layer cake. My personal favorite.

Being out in this part of the world is romantic in itself. But add a cozy dining room full of leather furniture, fireplaces burning hot, and Texan inspired entrees like elk and buffalo meatloaf, or rack of lamb, and you’ve got an experience that will cause anyone to fall in love all over again.

6) The Nest, Fredericksburg

If you and your partner find yourselves on a romantic road trip through the Texas Hill Country, then stop into Fredericksburg’s The Nest, an intimate and charming spot housed in a renovated home built in the early 1900s. You’ll escape the usual Fredericksburg German fare, with a menu that is eclectic new American, served alongside local Hill Country wines.

From juicy roasted chicken, to tender New Zealand rack of lamb, their creative menu lies heavily on the gluten free side for those with food sensitivities. And since you’re in the Hill Country surrounded by lavender farms, why not finish your romantic meal off with their homemade lavender ice cream, served with a mint marigold red wine sauce.
